Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at 10:00 am: “Dealing with Dementia” – Tina Smith, WellMed Charitable Foundation

Do you sometimes feel that your best efforts make things worse when trying to get results from your loved one who has dementia?  This session will discuss techniques developed by experts to ease the frustration and anger that sometimes result from interactions where the caregiver has expectations of the care receiver.  You will hear others share some of their coping methods, too.

Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at 10:00 am: “AI Scams/Identity Theft: What Every Consumer Should Know About” – Jerry Mitchell, Attorney General Office

This program educates consumers on some “Dos & Don’ts” of ID theft. Each year, more than 10 million Americans have their personal information — including name, social security number, bank account, or credit card number — stolen. This presentation is designed to raise awareness of identity theft tactics, steps to take to protect your identity and personal information, and information on reporting identity theft.

Thursday, February 6, 2025, at 11:00 am: “Six Pillars of Brain Health” – Carol Remmel – AARP Volunteer

It’s never too late to focus on your brain health! In this interactive session you will learn about the six pillars of brain health, activities that support brain health, and hopefully be inspired by others. This session is a good overview for anyone interested in learning more about brain health and will provide you with information on the latest research on brain health, lifestyle suggestions, and resources to learn more.

Thursday, February 12, 2025, at 10:00 am: “Life & Long-Term Care Insurance” – Anastasios “Tom” Trispagonas, CLTC 

Understanding the mechanics of life insurance and long-term care policies!  Join us for an in-depth review with Tom Trispagonas to discuss the different types of policies available; what the underwriting process is like; how life and long-term care policies can be leveraged for a variety of needs; and what pitfalls to lookout for.  Tom is the VP of Sales for Grove Financial & Associates and a Managing Partner of Grove Wealth Management (both based in Mechanicsburg, PA).  He’s worked in the insurance and financial planning industries for the last 16+ years and is certified in long-term care planning.

This presentation identifies the most common types of funeral fraud and bereavement scams, warning signs to look out for, and tips to protect yourself from becoming a scam victim while you’re grieving.
